City Tech Students were given an opportunity to meet those running for student governance positions for the 08-09 academic year. Ten of the 11 candidates attended the event that was held today from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on the first floor of the Atrium in the old bookstore space. Student elections will be Monday, April 14-Wednesday, April 16. Students will be able to vote online at www.elexpert.net/votecitytech.

City Tech students will have an opportunity to meet the candidates for several of the position for Student Government Association 2008-2009. All students are invited to join us in the old bookstore on the 1st floor of the Atrium. The candidates will be there from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. to answer your questions and to tell you what they plan to do if elected.
We will also be suppling refreshments for all those who attend.

Below is the proposed fee referendum that will appear on the ballot.
Do you wish to increase the New York City College of Technology full-time/part-time student activity fee by $6.75/$7.75 representing the following allocation increases: Athletic Program by $2.00/2.00; Day Care by $1.75/$1.75; SGA Operations by $1.00/$1.00; Student Clubs and Activities by $1.00/$1.00; and NYPIRG by $1.00/$2.00? This would increase the full-time fee from $54.55 to $61.30 and the part-time fee from $20.20 to $27.95 per semester.

There will be a student fee referendum on the ballot next week. The referendum is for a fee increase to the student activities fee. The funds generated would be used to support athletics, childcare, student clubs, SGA and NYPIRG. Currently the City Tech student activities fee is one of the lowest within CUNY and has not been adjusted in 10 years.
I encourage you to check out the referendum so that you may make an informed choice about your vote. The actual wording of the referendum is posted above.
