GLBTQ Student Roundtable

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning Student Roundtable was held Tuesday, March 25 in the Student Wellness Center facilitated by the Director of the Student Wellness Center, Holly Burmeister and GLBTQ Coordinator, Dan Werner.

The consensus of the student participants was there is an urgent need for increased visibility of GLBTQ positive and affirmative student services, specific classes incorporating GLBT themes, and more prominent displays of support such as Safe Zone stickers and faculty and staff role models. One student remarked the impact of one Safe Zone sticker: how it set the tone for his experience at City Tech, making it easier for him to be open and out on campus.

With a student luncheon, LGBT Health Week on the horizon, Safe Zone Training for faculty and staff and a CUNY wide GLBT Colloquium, the Office of Student Life and Development and the Student Wellness Center will be busily and aggressively addressing and coordinating GLBTQ services here at City Tech.
